Name: Dentex / Dog snapper
Scientific Name: Lutjanus jocu
Family: Lutjanidae
Description: Body moderately high with a more pronounced curvature at the top. Soft brown tone in the upper half and slightly reddish in the head at the bottom, below the eye showing a skip triangular. The fins are reddish or yellowish. Exhibit well-developed canine teeth, but the top are larger and visible even when mouth closed.
Geographic distribution: tropical waters of the Atlantic, taking place in Brazil's northern region to the southeast.
Ecology: They live in shallow coastal waters in the funds of rock or coral. They are found solitary or in small groups together the stones on the bottom. Voracious predators and wild, they feed on fish, shrimps, crabs, clams and octopus. Its meat is of good quality.
